What your yard needs in September

North Texas work is seasonal. Here is where we are right now, updated as the year moves, so you are never guessing whether it is the right month to call.

Good time now

Sod installation

Early fall is one of the best windows of the year. The heat is off, roots establish before dormancy, and the lawn comes into spring already knitted in. Sod laid now needs less water than the same job in July.

Good time now

Oak pruning

Outside the oak wilt season, so healthy oaks can be pruned, and we paint every cut. Thinning a canopy now gives a shaded lawn more light before you replace it.

Any month

Drainage & grading

Standing water does not wait for a season, and fall is a good time to fix it. You find out whether it works before the winter rain arrives rather than after.

Before you buy sod

Find out why the last lawn died

New sod on top of an unsolved problem dies the same way the old grass did. There are usually three or four reasons, and we will tell you which one you have before we quote anything.

Too much shade

Grass thinning under a tree is a light problem, not a sod problem. Thinning the canopy is often the real fix — and cheaper than replacing the same grass twice.

Water sitting

Blackland clay drains slowly. If the yard holds water or the grade runs the wrong way, that gets corrected before anything green goes down.

The wrong grass

Bermuda needs full sun. Zoysia handles shade far better. St. Augustine has its own rules. Picking wrong is the most common and most expensive mistake in a north Texas yard.

Sprinklers aimed at the old lawn

New turf is thicker than what it replaced. We flag every head before we dig, and if coverage needs changing, a licensed irrigator handles it before the new grass goes thirsty.

What we do

Sod, trees, and the water underneath

Pick what you need. Each page tells you how the job runs, what changes the price, and whether right now is the season for it.

Fresh sod, seams still visible

Sod installation

Bermuda, zoysia, and St. Augustine — with the grading, soil prep and old-turf removal that decides whether it takes.

Tree trimming & pruning

Structural pruning and canopy thinning — often the actual fix when grass will not grow underneath.

Drainage & grading

French drains, regrading and standing-water fixes. Sod laid over a drainage problem just fails more expensively.

Tree & stump removal

Hazardous leaners, storm-split trunks, and stumps ground below grade so the spot can be sodded.

Landscaping & hardscape

Patios, flagstone and paver walkways, retaining walls, fencing, beds and low-voltage lighting — often done alongside a sod job.

Where we work

Built out from The Colony, not from Dallas

We list drive times honestly. The closer you are to The Colony, the faster we get there and the sharper the price.

Why homeowners pick us

Proof, not adjectives

Quote to install, fast

Estimate one day, sod on the ground the next when the schedule allows. Several customers describe exactly that.

We fix what we find

Bad grade, a drain that needed adding, a tree over the new lawn that needs thinning. Handled and priced honestly rather than turned into a change order.

No money down

You pay when the work is finished and you have walked it with us. That has been the policy since 2014.

Geoff is on the job

He quotes it and he is there for it. You are not handed off to a subcontractor after you sign.

Tell us what the yard needs.

Send a couple of photos and we will give you a real number — usually the same day, always before we schedule anything.
