Sod, tree work and drainage in Plano, Texas
Plano is the oldest housing stock we work in regularly, and that changes the job. The trees are bigger, the shade is heavier, and the lawns have been in the ground a long time.
What Plano yards deal with
West Plano was built out through the 1980s and 90s, and those yards now sit under forty years of tree growth. The most common call we get here is not really a sod call — it is a shade call. Grass that used to do fine has been slowly starved of light as the canopy closed in.
Older sprinkler systems are the other Plano pattern. Systems installed thirty years ago were laid out for thinner turf and smaller trees, and heads end up buried, misaimed or crushed by roots. We flag every head before we dig, and if the system needs adjusting for the new turf, a licensed irrigator handles it — otherwise the new lawn fails in the same dry spots the old one did.
Neighborhoods we work in
Willow Bend, Deerfield, Prestonwood, Whiffletree, Russell Creek, Hunters Glen, and the older streets inside Parker and Custer.
What we do in Plano
Sod installation — bermuda, zoysia and St. Augustine, with grading and soil prep for the clay. This is the bulk of what we do here.
Tree trimming — structural pruning and canopy thinning, often the actual fix when grass will not grow underneath. Healthy oaks are pruned in December and January because of oak wilt.
Drainage and grading — French drains, regrading and standing-water fixes before new turf goes down.
Tree and stump removal — hazardous leaners, storm damage, and stumps ground below grade.
Plano note
Plano has a tree preservation ordinance covering certain protected trees. If a removal you are asking about falls under it, we will tell you before we quote it rather than after.
