North Texas trees work hard. Summer heat, long dry spells, heavy clay soil and spring storms with high winds all take a toll. Regular, correct pruning is the single best thing you can do to keep a tree strong and to cut the risk of a limb landing on your house or car.
We handle trees of all sizes — from young trees that need their structure set early to large, mature shade trees over the house. Every cut is made with the tree's long-term health in mind: no topping, no stripping out the interior, and no more removed than the tree needs.
What's Included
- Removal of dead, broken, diseased and crossing branches
- Crown thinning to let wind pass through and reduce storm stress
- Raising low limbs for clearance over driveways, sidewalks, streets and lawns
- Clearing branches away from roofs, gutters, siding and fences
- Structural pruning on young trees so they grow a strong framework
- Shaping ornamental trees such as crape myrtles without “crape murder” topping
- Cleanup and haul-off of all branches and debris
How It Works
Walk the property
We look at each tree with you, talk through what you want (clearance, light, shape, safety) and point out anything that looks like decay, splits or storm damage.
Clear estimate
You get a free, no-obligation estimate that spells out which trees and what work is included.
Careful pruning
Cuts are made just outside the branch collar so the tree can seal the wound. Larger limbs are cut in sections to protect your roof, fence and landscaping below.
Full cleanup
Branches are hauled away and the lawn, beds and driveway are raked and blown clean before we leave.
When to trim trees in North Texas
Late fall through winter, while most trees are dormant, is generally the best time for structural pruning: the canopy is bare so problems are easy to see, and the tree has the spring flush ahead to close its wounds.
Oaks are the big exception. Oak wilt is present in parts of North Texas, and the Texas A&M Forest Service recommends avoiding pruning or wounding oaks from February through June, when the beetles that spread the fungus are most active — and painting any fresh oak cut with wound paint right away, any time of year. Live oaks, red oaks and post oaks are best pruned in the hottest part of summer or in mid-winter.
Dead, broken or hazardous limbs should come down whenever they are found, in any season — especially ahead of spring storm season.

Tree Trimming FAQ
When is the best time to trim oak trees in North Texas?
Avoid February through June. That is when oak wilt spreads most easily through fresh wounds. Mid-summer and mid-winter are the safest windows, and fresh oak cuts should be painted with wound paint right away.
How much of a tree should be trimmed at one time?
As a rule of thumb, no more than about a quarter of the live canopy in a season. Taking more than that stresses the tree and triggers weak, fast regrowth.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping (cutting the top off a tree or chopping crape myrtles back to stubs) weakens trees and creates poorly attached regrowth that breaks easily. We thin and reduce limbs properly instead.
Do you haul away the branches?
Yes. Cleanup and haul-off are part of every trimming job.
